Duality.

Art Collection | 2024 - 2025

Medium: Acrylics on Csnvas.

A woman stands behind several large colorful paintings of animals, including horses, a hummingbird, a chameleon, an owl, and a horse, displayed against a concrete wall.

Two different techniques are used in this particular collection.

As an artist, I wanted to explore the duality between perfectionism and letting go; going from something that’s usually worked in a painstakingly and detailed manner to a looser and more liberating way of painting. The contradictions between something being so perfectly straight leaving no space for error while the other part is more chaotic, it has less detail and planning yet is still beautiful to the eye. I wanted to feel and let the viewer feel these two sets of emotions.

Colorful, abstract painting of a horse's head with a pink background. The horse's face is detailed with dark lines and pink highlights. The mane and upper neck are depicted with intricate, vibrant patterns in pink, purple, red, orange, yellow, blue, and black.
A painting of an elephant, with the left side depicted as an expressive blue watercolor style and the right side as an intricate, colorful geometric mosaic design.
A colorful, abstract painting of an owl, with the left side of its face and head highly detailed in blue, orange, and black patterns, and the right side composed of orange and brown feathers with expressive brushstrokes.

One half of the painting is rigid, accurate, unbending and leaning into perfectionism while the other half feels like freedom, it’s got movement, it’s lighter on the hand, it’s inaccurate and leans into letting the movement flow.

An abstract portrait of a rooster with a detailed, colorful head and a pink, textured body, set against a diagonally divided background of beige and light pink.
